81894 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Agriculture: What, if any, reassurances can the Minister provide that gender equity is being prioritized across all pay bands and leadership levels?
Hon Todd McClay: I am advised that the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has a comprehensive Gender and Ethnic Pay Gap Action Plan that was published in 2022, and a progress update has since been published in December 2023. You can find this on MPI’s website: https://www.mpi.govt.nz/dmsdocument/41358/direct
MPI has continued to reduce its gender pay gap from 7.1 percent at 30 June 2023 to 5.8 percent at 30 June 2024, and remains lower than the gender pay gap across the Public Service reported as 6.1 percent at 30 June 2024. MPI continues to have no significant pay gaps for employees in like-for-like roles.
MPI’s gender pay gap as of 30 June 2024, including the previous four years, is provided in the attached.
