54562 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections

54562 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many vacancies are there for probation officer positions, if any, as of 31 October 2025, broken down by role and region?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that not all roles are required to be filled in order for Corrections to safely manage people on sentence in the community. Like any organisation, Corrections has a natural turnover of staff and a level of vacancy is built into their operating model. The number of vacancies fluctuates regularly. Please see the attached table which contains the number of Probation Officer vacancies, as at 31 October 2025, broken down by region. I am further advised that the Probation Officer positions cannot be broken down into Probation Officer, Senior Practitioner, and Senior Community Work Supervisor by region, without substantial manual analysis, which I am not prepared to ask my officials to do for the purposes of this response.
