Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Justice: How many staff, if any, in headcount terms did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, have on 1 July 2021 and how many of these staff, if any, were union members?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I refer the Member to table 1, attached. I am advised that it is possible that there are employees who are a member of a union and pay union fees directly to the union, as opposed to paying union fees via the payroll system. In these cases, entities could be unaware of the employee’s union membership, and would be unable to include these employees in their count of employees who are union members.
