37026 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many building contractors, if any, did Kāinga Ora have contracts with on 1 July 2025 to build new houses and for each contractor how many houses were contracted to be built at that time?

Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the Member to the attached table provided by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, which provides the number of build partners contracted as head contractors to deliver social housing on Kāinga Ora developments for the years requested. The information does not include the builders of new or existing homes acquired by Kāinga Ora for social housing as, in these cases, the developer contracts the construction of the homes with their preferred supplier. In all cases, Kāinga Ora is not responsible for the employment of any sub-contractors such as electricians, plumbers, joiners etc. as they are selected by the head contractor or successful applicant through their own processes. This is also my answer to WPQs 37027 and 37028 (2025).
