Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Transport: How many roles, if any, were disestablished in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025, listed by job title and number of roles under each job title?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025, the Ministry of Transport disestablished 44 permanent positions. Please refer to the attached for a breakdown by job title and number of roles. I am advised that as at 22 May 2025, 330 employee job titles were disestablished at NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) that existed at 30 May 2024, totalling 389 closed positions. These are listed in the attached table. Jobs titles are disestablished or vacant positions closed in response to the changing needs of NZTA, including during organisational change processes. Most positions closed during this period were vacant.
