24804 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What was the net change, if any, of all roles in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025, listed by job title and number of roles under each job title?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) that the change in FTE between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025 was an increase of 20.4. This has been calculated by identifying the difference in FTE on both dates. The FTE at 30 May 2024 was 8,976 and at 22 May was 8996.4 FTE.
Since April 2024, 301 people have left MSD due to voluntary redundancy and redundancy processes. Of the 301, 156 people left due to redundancy between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025. Additionally, during this same period MSD increased FTE through additional funding of new roles and Section 86 transfers under the Public Service Act. This is outlined below:
• Funding received for 117 FTE Emergency Housing positions
• Funding received for 13.9 FTE Housing Supports – Broader Contributions positions
• Funding received for 36 FTE Historic Claims positions.
• Section 86 transfer of 217 FTE in Disability Support Services
• Section 86 transfer of 9 FTE in Child Wellbeing and Poverty Reduction Group
Please refer to the attached table which shows a breakdown of all MSD roles listed by business group and the number of roles under each job title as at 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025 and the net difference between these dates.
