Tamatha Paul to the Minister for Children: How much funding, if any, was allocated to Te Hunga Tauwhiro i te Kura in Schools each financial year over the last five available financial years, broken down by region, number of FTE funded, number of schools and number of children accessing the service?

Hon Karen Chhour: I refer the Member to the attached spreadsheet which shows the funding allocated to Te Hunga Tauwhiro i te Kura in Schools (the Services in Schools programme) each financial year from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2025. To provide the number of schools and number of children accessing service within each school or by provider level within a Written Parliamentary Question timeframe would require significant manual collation and I am not prepared to ask this of my officials at this time. As such, in accordance with the Speaker’s Ruling 199-3, I consider that the time, and therefore the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest. I am further advised that for the current year financial year, Oranga Tamariki are only able to provide the volume and funding information at an aggregated level as service details are subject to further contracting and change. The current year is expected to broadly align to financial year 2023/24 funding levels (inclusive of Pay Equity uplifts), and volumes and funding levels will be available at a disaggregated level at the completion of the financial year. Prior to FY 2022/23, programme funding was provided separate to the FTE rate, and after FY 2022/23 it was incorporate into the FTE rate.
