9417 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What property leases, if any, have been entered into, renewed, or exited by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, address, annual rent, lease term, and whether the decision to enter, renew, or exit was part of a broader office consolidation programme?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that there are 15 new leases, 60 renewed leases and 28 exits from leases. Of the 15 new leases, one has not yet started, and of the 60 renewed leases, 7 have new rent negotiations underway (or other lease terms).
I am further advised that the Children’s Commissioner (and its predecessor, the Children and Young People’s Commission) has exited two leases and entered into one lease. The Independent Children’s Monitor renewed one lease. The New Zealand Artificial Limb Service has entered into three new leases, and the Social Workers Registration Board has entered into one lease.
The attached table shows the Address, location, new/renew/exit, lease term, rental and office consolidation.
