3780 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many complaints, if any, did Kāinga Ora receive about tenants in each month since January 2020?

Hon Tama Potaka: As Associate Minister of Housing (Social Housing), Kāinga Ora advises me that it used to group disruptive behaviour in its system in the same category as relatively minor complaints such as lawns not being mowed regularly. However, in order to provide greater visibility of disruptive behaviour concerns and how Kāinga Ora is responding to them, it introduced a new way of recording disruptive behaviour complaints in November 2022. The change in reporting means that figures for disruptive behaviour complaints before 2023 cannot be compared with any previous years as it would not be a like-for-like comparison. I refer the Member to the attached table provided by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities. The complaints recorded in the table include those that were later found to have no merit, did not require any action by Kāinga Ora as a landlord, or were later withdrawn.
