82400 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Rural Communities: What, if any, are the impacts of FTE role cuts to rural communities and how, if at all, does this affect MPI's role in strengthening overall resilience of rural communities?

Hon Mark Patterson: The Ministry for Primary Industries’ (MPI) key focus is the primary sector and rural communities. MPI will continue to work closely with other government agencies where required, for example during adverse events and recovery from them, or where proposed policy might affect the sector/rural communities. MPI did not make any reductions to the delivery of direct frontline services and statutory roles, and there are no risks to the performance of MPI functions as a result of the government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service.
