82315 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many Pacific cultural support programs are currently available in Corrections facilities, if any, and what is their participation rate at each facility?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that the majority of programmes and activities that are available to people in prison are designed with a bi-cultural lens, however, the Saili Matagi Programme which is delivered at Spring Hill Corrections Facility and the Pasifika Identity Programme (PIP) which is delivered at Auckland Prison, are two programmes that are tailored specifically to Pasifika people in prison. In November 2024, eight people were participating in the Saili Matagi Programme and 23 people were participating in the PIP.
