82219 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What role(s) and responsibilities, if any, does the Ministry of Social Development currently fulfil within the Auckland Policy Office, listed alphabetically?
Hon Louise Upston: The Ministry of Social Development’s involvement with the Auckland Policy Office (APO) is primarily through the Regional Public Service Commissioner, Jules Lynch and her directorates which consist of 2 Directors, 1 Lead Advisor and 1 Advisor.
Jules maintains a strong working relationship with the Head of the Policy Office, Michael Quinn, ensuring alignment and collaboration between government agencies and other stakeholders.
Additionally, the Ministry plays a facilitative role in organising and hosting the monthly Auckland Regional Leadership Group (ARLG) hui at the APO. These huis bring together 50-56 participants, including government agencies, council representatives, and iwi leaders, fostering inter-agency coordination and partnership building.
Through paid membership in the APO (two memberships annually funded by the Regional Public Service budget), the team also has access to the APO for collaboration and working with partner agencies located there.
