82158 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Does the Minister share the concerns expressed by Auckland City Missioner Helen Robinson: "I'm worried. I know hundreds of thousands of Aucklanders rely on the mission for food and I know what it means when people don't have enough food.", and if so, what actions, if any, will she be taking to ensure Aucklanders will not have to go without food?
Hon Louise Upston: I have been advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that they have a close relationship with Auckland City Mission, both at a senior national and regional level, and at a relationship and operational level, to support them and the people they work with. Auckland City Mission have case managers on site conducting in depth assessments of need and refer to complementary support services, both internal and external, to address the root causes of clients’ food needs. We encourage all people in need to contact the Ministry to seek assistance.
