82131 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What steps, if any, is the Minister taking to assure New Zealanders that their safety and agricultural and environmental interests are being prioritized?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Biosecurity New Zealand protects New Zealand’s economic growth created by primary production. Biosecurity threats are amongst the top risks for the Government and primary sector. I am advised that there is ongoing prioritisation of what pests and diseases to monitor and respond to. MPI operates with the ability to deploy critical capacity and capacity to respond to any major pest and disease incursion.
