82124 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What advice, if any, has the Minister received about issues currently impacting New Zealand businesses though the climate-related disclosures regime?
Hon Andrew Bayly: A range of stakeholders, including industry groups, climate reporting entities and others have expressed concern about the impact of the climate-related disclosures regime on New Zealand businesses. Views have been expressed that the cost of reporting is too high, the director liability settings are not appropriate for the nature of climate reporting and the thresholds for reporting for listed issuers and investment scheme managers are too low. On Friday 13 December 2024 the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment issued a discussion document to consult on possible adjustments to the climate-related disclosures regime to help address these issues.
