82106 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for Rail: Does the Minister think that upgrades to the New Zealand rail network, outside of the rail freight between Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland, are necessary, and if so, which tracks are his priorities?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Minister of Transport is responsible for approving the Rail Network Investment Programmes proposed by KiwiRail’s boarding consultation with shareholding ministers. The Government is investing in the rail network. We would not be investing in the rail network if we didn’t think it was necessary.
