82026 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for Rail: Are any sections of the New Zealand rail network prone to sea level rise?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: There are sections of the rail network which run along the waterline. During large storms, rail is prone to washout. This is dealt with by repairing retaining walls and lifting the line. These are operational decisions for KiwiRail.
