81936 (2024). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: What actions, if any, has the Minister taken regarding the minimum wage rate for 2025?

Hon Brooke van Velden: In late July, I directed officials at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to undertake the 2024 Minimum Wage Review and to initiate consultation with Business NZ and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions. In November, I considered advice and analysis on minimum wage options provided by MBIE, as well as the most up-to-date economic data and forecasts when deciding what minimum wage rate to recommend to Cabinet. I announced Cabinet's decisions on 17 December 2024.
