81935 (2024). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: What, if any, independent research, data and/or studies has the Minister relied on in determining the minimum wage rate for 2025?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I considered the Minimum Wage Review 2024 report prepared by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, as well as the most up-to-date economic data and forecasts, to inform my minimum wage rate recommendation to Cabinet. These include consumers price index forecasts released by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in August 2024 (Monetary Policy Statement August 2024) and the Treasury in May 2024 (Budget and Economic Fiscal Update 2024), and the annual inflation figure for the year ending September 2024 released by StatsNZ in October 2024.
