81886 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What specific steps are being taken to ensure adequate funding is available for preparedness and response in the event of medium- or large-scale biosecurity incursions, particularly in relation to H5N1?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised the work to get New Zealand ready for the possible arrival of H5N1 HPAI is being adequately resourced by the Ministry for Primary Industries and its One Health partners: the Department of Conservation, the Ministry of Health and Health New Zealand. Resourcing for any future responses to H5N1 will initially be provided by One Health agencies, industry and other providers as appropriate.
