81847 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What, if any, measures will the Minister take on incursion of H5N1 to prevent a spread of H5N1, or other animal diseases, through contaminated water sources, especially in dairy farming regions?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that the Ministry for Primary Industries is working with other government agencies, including the Department of Conservation and health agencies, industry, local government, and community groups to ensure New Zealand is prepared and able to respond to any possible outbreak. This includes working with industry to reinforce the importance of maintaining biosecurity measures on farm.
