81841 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What, if any, specific research initiatives or partnerships are in place to track the evolution of the H5N1 virus?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that the Ministry for Primary Industries has an official in Antarctica conducting field detection and genome sequencing of HPAI present on the continent, in collaboration with Australian and American officials. I am also advised that MPI has been collaborating with and sharing information with their Australian counterparts on HPAI H5N1.
