81835 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What steps are being taken to prioritize funding and resources for the most urgent biosecurity risks?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Biosecurity NZ continues to take all steps possible to prepare for emerging biosecurity threats or possible incursions such as H5N1. Funding requirements are continually assessed as priorities change. On 19 December 2024, I announced funding support to continue the H7N6 HPAI response. The funding support included $20 million for response and compensation costs.
