81821 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: Whose role is it to manage biosecurity incursions in New Zealand?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Biosecurity New Zealand is a business unit within the Ministry for Primary Industries. Biosecurity incursions are led by Biosecurity New Zealand. During responses, and if incursions move to long term pest management, other organisations can be and are sometimes better placed to lead, such as DOC, industry, Local Government, eNGOs (such as Forest and Bird), public entities (such as. Fish and Game New Zealand).
