81806 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What, if any, contingency plans are in place if New Zealand faces a shortage of CO2 during an H5N1 outbreak?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Depopulation using CO2 is one method which can be used during an H5N1 outbreak. Alternative options can also be used. MPI has depopulation guidelines of methods, all of which meet the Animal Welfare Act and Biosecurity Act requirements
