81801 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: Has the Minister signalled a need for additional funding to address emerging biosecurity threats, or could a focus on cost-saving measures delay or hinder future preparedness for incursions like H5N1?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Biosecurity NZ continues to take all steps possible to prepare for emerging biosecurity threats or possible incursions such as H5N1. On 19 December 2024, I announced funding support to continue the H7N6 HPAI response. The funding support included $20 million for response and compensation costs.
