81794 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: How many response team roles did MPI employ at the discovery of the H7N6 bird flu incursion and how many of these roles did MPI employ as at 14 October 2023?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: MPI has the same number of staff to respond to Biosecurity incursions, such as the H7N6 response, as part of the border operations group. This new group is responsible for the delivery of incident management, leadership, and coordination of responses and draws on other Biosecurity New Zealand staff and from all business units across MPI. MPI’s response to H7N6 currently has more than 200 staff across MPI allocated to it.
