Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 on the recommended focus area ‘Increase allocation of funding for education and training of the cancer workforce, including funding for replacement staffing cover and additional roles in cancer care. This includes consideration of an increase in clinical nurse specialist and nurse practitioner positions in cancer care’ under ‘System-wide solution 4: Workforce’ in the Cancer Control Agency ’Cancer Services Planning’ document?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, planning to increase capacity was underway, and included development of a proposal to increase capacity at the Auckland and Christchurch transplant centres. I also refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Questions 39331 and 37533 (2024).
