Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 on the recommended focus area ‘Increase allocation of funding for education and training of the cancer workforce, including funding for replacement staffing cover and additional roles in cancer care. This includes consideration of growth in the non-clinical cancer workforce (eg kaiāwhina, community-based whānau support staff, kaupapa Māori providers)’ under ‘System-wide solution 4: Workforce’ in the Cancer Control Agency ’Cancer Services Planning’ document?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that this area continues to be considered as part of the services planning work that Health New Zealand has underway.
