81078 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 to make HPV screening available outside clinical settings (e.g., self-testing in the home or community)?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, the National Cervical Screening Programme expanded the capacity of the Human Papillomavirus Virus (HPV) screening workforce by including unregistered kaimahi. This initiative will expand the workforce by an estimated 200 kaimahi across regional coordination teams and Screening Support Services. Kaimahi are able to support people to self-test, in partnership with an accredited cervical sample-taker clinician.
