80952 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Did the Minister seek reassurances from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) that they had not produced unfair exam questions; if so, what was NZQA's response?
Hon Erica Stanford: NZQA has advised me that they have systems and processes in place to check the alignment of examination questions with both the standard being assessed and the content and level of the curriculum from which the standard is derived. There are multiple quality assurance checks specifically for this by different individuals throughout the examination development process. NZQA’s examination development teams include contracted teachers with assessment expertise and experience teaching the subject at the level of the examination. Should an identified issue be validated, NZQA’s marking processes ensure no students are disadvantaged.
