80859 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What, if anything, is the difference in legislative powers and staff resources between the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the "lead anti-scam Minister"?
Hon Andrew Bayly: The responsibility for combatting scams currently sits across multiple portfolios and agencies. As the lead anti-scam Minister, I have Cabinet approval to better coordinate efforts across government, with the private sector and internationally through strategic, rather than legislative levers.
Agencies and entities carrying out work to support the Government’s anti-scam coordination efforts continue to do so through their existing functions and staff resource.
