80770 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What is the percentage of children in Oranga Tamariki care who have been visited by their social worker at least once in the last eight weeks to ensure their ongoing safety and wellbeing, as of 30 September 2024?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that for the period July to September 2024 (quarter one of 2024/25), 95.1% of children in care had been visited and engaged with by social workers at least once in the last eight weeks. I am further advised that Oranga Tamariki assess visiting frequency based on need, and that in many cases social workers visit children in care more frequently.
