80594 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Associate Minister of Health: What steps has she taken, if any, to develop a targeted strategy for aged care, as outlined in Recommendation 1 of the Aged Care Commissioner’s March 2024 report?
Hon Casey Costello: Health New Zealand's Aged Care Funding and Service Models Review aims to improve the sustainability, accessibility, and quality of services to ensure equity of access and outcomes by delivering culturally sensitive services that cater to the diverse backgrounds of an aging population. Phase two of the review is underway and includes three steps: • initial engagement with stakeholders has been completed and Health NZ expects to soon release a summary of engagement key messages • service demand scenarios and investment analysis have also been completed and Health NZ is currently considering options • ongoing engagement and design with stakeholders has begun for Home and Community Support Services. Tier two service specifications have been reviewed, and reporting standards are being developed. Initial discussions are also underway regarding funding options for Aged Residential Care.
