Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made to address the recommendation 'Local connections: Community preparations must connect to larger scales of organisation and their resource pools' as contained in the research into health and wellbeing impacts of adverse weather conditions report for the Ministry of Health dated July 2024,as at 9 December 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that work on recommendations contained in the Research into Health and Wellbeing Impacts of Adverse Weather Conditions report is being progressed by the Ministry of Health and Health New Zealand. Health officials are collaborating with key stakeholders, including the National Emergency Management Agency, Civil Defence Emergency Management, key community leaders, health providers and at-risk groups. Work is also progressing with the lead researcher for the quantitative analysis occurring to support engagement with the recommendations.
