78974 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: Were there any changes to FTE staff working on biosecurity as a result of Budget 2024 and/or job losses at MPI?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has not made any reductions to frontline services and statutory roles within Biosecurity New Zealand. Biosecurity New Zealand had a reduction of 108 FTE positions, of which 79 were vacant, as part of MPI’s ‘Improving our Efficiency’ change process. The reductions in filled positions consolidated functions such as support services, portfolio management, business analysis, and operational policy. As at 30 November 2024 there were 1,308 FTE working in Biosecurity New Zealand.
