78962 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What pieces of advice, if any, by title and date, has DOC provided to MPI on avian influenza?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: The Ministry for Primary Industries and the Department of Conservation (DOC), along with the Ministry of Health and Health New Zealand, have been working collaboratively on a One Health approach to prepare, respond, and plan for the long-term management of avian influenza in New Zealand. This includes the current response activities to the H7N6 outbreak on a commercial poultry farm, and for the H5N1 strain causing global concern. DOC contributes to One Health advice through regular meetings and reporting, rather than by providing separate advice to MPI.
