78945 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Media and Communications: What information regarding conflicts of interest is explicitly requested or expected to be declared as part of the appointment process for Crown boards within ministries, departments, and agencies for which the Minister is responsible?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: Appointments officials at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage follow guidance from the Public Service Commission which can be found here: https://www.publicservice.govt.nz/guidance/guidance-for-statutory-crown-entities/members-interests-and-conflicts-identification-disclosure-and-management. During due diligence processes, candidates are asked whether they have any interests which would conflict with the role. Any potential conflicts are considered in line with the relevant board conflicts policies, the position on the board, and the type of conflict.
