78914 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Police: Since November 2023, in how many instances has a conflict of interest resulted in a candidate being declined for a Crown board appointment in a ministry, department or agency for which the Minister is responsible, and if this information is withheld, on what grounds is it being withheld?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that before making appointments, the recruitment process for all Crown boards includes a requirement for candidates to disclose relevant conflicts of interest. Officials assess such conflicts for manageability which may lead to a person’s candidacy not proceeding to a short-listing stage or consideration by Cabinet. Police is not required to record how many times such conflicts occur.
