78905 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Police: What information regarding conflicts of interest is explicitly requested or expected to be declared as part of the appointment process for Crown boards within ministries, departments, and agencies for which the Minister is responsible?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Before making appointments, the recruitment process for all Crown boards includes a requirement of all candidates to disclose relevant conflicts of interest so that the potential for a conflict of interest can be assessed in advance of an appointment being made. Officials assess such conflicts for manageability which may lead to a person’s candidacy not proceeding to a short-listing stage or consideration by Cabinet.
