Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Since November 2023, in how many instances has a conflict of interest resulted in a candidate being declined for a Crown board appointment in a ministry, department or agency for which the Minister is responsible, and if this information is withheld, on what grounds is it being withheld?

Hon Brooke van Velden: Since November 2023 no candidates have been declined for appointment to a Crown board based upon their declared conflict of interest. The Department chose not to shortlist two candidates who declared conflicts in their applications.
