78839 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector: Has the process for appointing individuals to Crown boards within ministries, departments and/or agencies for which the Minister is responsible changed since 27 November 2023, if so, what specific changes have been made to the process, on what date did those changes occur, and what advice or reasoning, if any, informed those changes, listed by title and date?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department), that no changes have been made to the way appointments to Crown boards are administered. The Department follows the Public Service Commission Board Appointment and Induction Guidelines (BAIG) when carrying out the appointment process on my behalf. In accordance with BAIG, reasonable variations may occur in appointment processes on a case-by-case basis depending on any specific circumstances of an appointment round, as well as requirements in any establishment legislation (in addition to the Crown Entities Act 2024) under which an appointment is being made.
