78611 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: Did he recuse himself from any consideration, deliberation or decision-making in respect of the Fast-track projects and in particular those concerning the Carter Group Limited, and if not, why not?
Hon Matt Doocey: When the Fast-Track Approvals Bill was considered by Cabinet Committee and Cabinet, Ministers declared their interests in relation to particular projects and left the room for any discussion at Cabinet Committee or Cabinet relating to that project. Details regarding conflicts of interest disclosed to the Cabinet Office are not generally released, in order to ensure the confidentiality of Cabinet proceedings, to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs and, in some cases, to protect personal privacy. However, as my family connection to the Carter Group is publicly known, I can confirm that I declared a conflict of interest for the 3 Carter Group projects being considered for the Fast-Track Approvals Bill and adopted the same approach as other Ministers for the Fast-Track Approvals Bill.
