78609 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: How were the key expectations for private share targets as set out in the "Increasing the private share of public transport" discussion document determined?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that, following the expectations set by our Government, NZTA utilised the professional expertise of its public transport advisors. I note that private funding was able to fund 40 percent of public transport in 2016/17, while in 2022/23 it funded less than 10 percent of the total cost.
