78605 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Police: What was the maximum amount of consecutive nights, if any, spent by a child in a police cell in the last 12 months?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that between December 2023 and November 2024 the maximum amount of time a child spent in custody was 43 hours. This included a court appearance and subsequent release to Oranga Tamariki for placement.
