78583 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Further to her answer to written question 75413 (2024): Did the Department of Internal Affairs request this capital injection or did they request on-going funding?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) requested a repayable capital injection to cover establishment costs incurred in advance of receiving any licence fees, so that the implementation of the regulation of online casino gambling could be fully cost-recovered from gambling operators, as is the case with other parts of the gambling system. The Department did not request ongoing Crown funding for regulation of online casino gambling.
