78561 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Further to her answer to written question 75388 (2024): How many additional individuals could up online casino gambling under the new regime?

Hon Brooke van Velden: There is little reliable recent data on the number of gamblers using offshore online casinos, which makes it difficult to quantify how many people are expected to shift to licensed gambling operators under the new regime. Once the licensing system is in place, the regulator will collect data from licence holders about the number of New Zealanders that have accounts with them. This will provide a baseline by which to assess any increase or decrease in online casino gambling over time.
