77193 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What military actions, if any, attributed to Russia have been identified as meeting the threshold for New Zealand to apply sanctions?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Russia Sanctions Act 2022 allows the Government to impose sanctions in response to Russia's military actions that threaten the sovereignty or territorial integrity of Ukraine or another country. Section 3(2) of the Russia Sanctions Act 2022 defines Russia's military actions as those that began on 24 February 2022 in relation to Ukraine, but sanctions may relate to military actions in Ukraine or in any other country.
