77179 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: What advice, reports, briefings, aide-memoires or any other document, if any, were received by the Minister or their office on an Exotic Caulerpa Controlled Area Notice for Waiheke Island, listed by title and date?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I was provided advice on 30 January 2024 (MO24-0022 Waiheke suction dredge trial for Caulerpa ) following the Waiheke suction dredge trial for exotic caulerpa. At this time Biosecurity New Zealand decided not to put a Controlled Area Notice (CAN) due to the more sparse nature of the infestation there. Officials have been engaging with relevant stakeholders and partners regarding revisiting the possibility of a Waiheke CAN in the past months but as yet no advice, reports, briefings, aide-memoires have been provided to me on this matter.
