77152 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: Have resource constraints within the Ministry of Justice caused by ongoing work relating to gangs, ram raids, and youth offending constrained work on updating investigatory tools?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: No. The Ministry’s investigatory tools work programme has a number of strands related to the collection of evidence of criminal offending by law enforcement agencies and the tools intelligence agencies use to investigate national security threats. Strengthening New Zealand’s ability to investigate and prosecute internet and computer crime through accession to the Budapest Convention, is one of the priority work streams.
